This website presents the translated diary of my mother, Ilse Bothe, (née Huhndorf), written between the 1920s and the 1970s.
It documents her life in Russia, Germany, both pre- and post-war, during a period of profound political and social upheaval.
The diary entries are organized chronologically and accompanied by photographs, documents, and contextual notes added during translation. External links are provided where relevant to clarify historical references and locations.
This project is intended as a primary-source record of lived experience, preserved as faithfully as possible and shared for those interested in German history, everyday life during wartime, and the long aftermath of World War II.
